5 reasons to be in Princeton tomorrow

We're hosting a free gathering to talk about Desi identity over chai and samosas.

Tomorrow is the big day! Central Desi is hosting our first in-person gathering at Princeton Public Library at 3 p.m. Check out the details and RSVP today. If you’re a last-minute person, it’s also fine to just show up and join the fun! Here are 5 reasons why we think you should be there:

  1. Meet other Desis: We’ve been building this community through our newsletter and Instagram page, and we’re looking forward to bringing it together in person, so that you can meet one another and connect with like-minded Desis in New Jersey.

  2. Discuss identity with people who get it: Our panel of writers and poets are all reflecting deeply on their hybrid identities and what it means to belong. The panel will focus on how their art reflects these themes, and there will be time for you to meet with them and chat afterwards.

  3. It’s a perfect day for mingling: It’s going to be a perfect spring day, according to the weather forecast. We’ll be mingling outside the library after the event ends. Enjoy beautiful Princeton as you connect with others and enjoy an enriching afternoon.

  4. Did we say free food? Khyber Coffee and Tea House of New Brunswick will be serving their delicious chai with snacks, and it’s all on us! We’re excited to partner with this delectable Desi-owned business to help make this day a success.

  5. It’s family friendly! Bring friends, neighbors, kids — anyone you think would be interested in the event. This is the library’s flagship AAPI Heritage Month event, and too often those events leave Desis out of the narrative. Here’s our chance to highlight our thriving community in New Jersey and help others learn more about it.

Hope we’ll see you there!
